Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the World of Ateria?
The world of Ateria is a fantasy campaign world that has bouncing around in one form or another for many years. Originally the world was designed to be used for a Dungeons and Dragons campaign but over the years it has evolved to be used with several different rules systems. The latest incarnation of the world will be for used with the Hackmaster 5th edition rules by Kezner and Company. In addition Ateria is the setting for a series of three novels I am currently working on. The world is a dark fantasy realm.

  • Can I use your campaign world to run my games in?
Absolutely! All I ask is that you provide a link to my site if you post anything on the web and credit me for creating the world. If you link any maps or writing I would prefer you asked ahead of time before you put them on a website.

  • Hackmaster? Aces and Eights? Never heard of them.
Both Hackmaster and Aces and Eights are designed and produced by Kenzer and Company. Both are role-playing games, one dealing with fantasy realms while the other deals with old west themes. More information on Hackmaster and Aces and Eights can be found on Kezer and Company's website here

  • What inspires you to write what you write?
Like all artists I am inspired and influenced by so many different things it would be nearly impossible to list them all. I prefer fantasy that is dark and slightly twisted. I also prefer to imagine a world that could be real instead of a high fantasy world. Does that mean I dislike high fantasy? No, but I prefer George R.R. Martin, Robert Howard, and Tolkien to most other authors. I don't think there is a right or wrong when it comes to the imagination and never try to pigeonhole myself or my writing. Usually I tend towards slightly macabre and dark fantasy that is more twisted than I would hope it would be, but always ends up that way.

  • Hey you used my art! What's the deal?
I make every attempt to credit the artist when I use an image and provide a link to the artist's site if they have one. If for some reason I am using a piece of your art without permission I will happily remove it or credit you for your hard work and provide a link to your site. If I have neglected to do so I sincerely apologize. Most likely it is because I found the image without a name or credit on it, email me and I will make every effort to remedy the situation as fast as possible.

  • Can I hire you?
Yes. I do freelance writing and some cartography. I currently have work being editing for publishing this year with several companies and hope to get more. Most of my work is for companies that produce games and role-playing games. My rates vary depending on the projects involved. I have worked for both flat rates and royalties and would consider work in both formats.

  • No, I mean will you come work for my company?
Maybe. While I am currently enjoying doing freelance work I would happily consider all employment opportunities as they come along and I would love to talk to you about them. Email me here
