Kingdom of Bann

South of the Free Cities and north of Silidor the small kingdom of Bann is an island of peace awash in a sea of conflict and change. Protected on all sides by several military keeps the kingdom of Bann is home to a large population of farmers and halflings who carve out their living from their neighboring nations and the gnolls of the Arroch Plains. Bann came into existence after a brief civil war and rebellion in northern Silidor. Lacking the military presence to take back what was lost, and with the aid of the Free Cities, Silidor was forced to let the small nation become independent of its host. The bitter feelings over the incident have long since passed since Silidor has lost much of its northern territory since then.

Bann attempts to be a peaceful nation trading freely as far north as Farhold and south as Silidor. The land is rich and fertile and the lakes of the region provide many species of freshwater fish. The halflings of the shires and downs farm all manner of fruits and vegetables which are brought to market for sale or trade and the bones from the fish pulled from the lakes are carved and sold as works of art. The Queen of Eiris is said to wear a scrimshaw necklace craved from the bones of several large sturgeon pulled from Silverfish Lake.

In its short existence Bann has managed to avoid any major conflicts and wars while also aiding Silidor with goods and products during the Generations War. They have diplomats as far as Borbon and try their best to stay involved in world matters when they can. The people here are hearty and hardworking and a large percentage of the population is comprised of halflings. Several bands of gnomes also live in the forests and hills nearby but they tend to be reclusive and keep to themselves.

Bann has a strong military presence. All major roads that lead into the country are protected by strongholds and regular patrols set out daily from each keep to scour the countryside for kobolds and roaming bands of gnolls, which present the biggest threat to the area. Many of the people of Bann have served in the military and a surprising number of peasants are proficient in the use of weapons preferring to fight for what they have when pushed rather than running.
